Eminem sets new Westpac Stadium crowd record

Wellington’s Westpac Stadium set a new crowd attendance record this evening with 46,474 fans in attendance for Eminem’s Rapture 2019 concert.

The record was previously held by the Robbie William concert in 2001, with a crowd of 42,500.

Paul Dainty, Promoter, President and CEO of TEG DAINTY, who scheduled this concert into Wellington, said “It is an outstanding achievement for Eminem to break the live concert attendance record at Westpac Stadium with a total of 46,474 fans in the audience. Eminem is one of the greatest showmen in the world with a fiercely loyal fan base that continues to grow with each tour. He is no stranger to selling out stadium shows but he is continuing to break attendance records across both New Zealand and Australia, which is just phenomenal.”

Eminem’s 2019 RAPTURE tour has sold a total of over 300,000 tickets to his five stadium shows including four in Australia (Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth) and the one New Zealand show in Wellington.

Westpac Stadium Chief Executive Shane Harmon said “We are thrilled to have hosted an international artist of this calibre in Wellington and deliver a smooth event for this record-breaking crowd. It certainly was a night to remember.

“I would also like to recognise and thank the 1,500 plus event staff across security, catering and cleaning whose hard work and commitment enabled this event to be the success it was.”

The concert also set the record for the highest percentage of ticket purchasers from outside the Wellington region, with 56 percent of the crowd travelling for the event. Those 25,000 visitors also set a new record for a single event for Wellington.
